1920s German hand made Siemens electric fan has two speeds and works well but a bit noisy. Not bad for a fan nearly 100 years old. It's been restored and has the factory hand's signature and factory location printed on the base.

1945 Snelling chair made in St Peters in Sydney out of teak and parachute straps after the war. An Australian mid century chair in original unrestored condition. Beige coloured parachute straps are woven in a chequered pattern and riveted to a teak frame. One of these iconic chairs is on display at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. This Snelling chair is still useable 70 years after manufacture.

狭い場所が落ち着くので最近さらにこの2.5畳の空間ですごしています。
最近うちのワクワクさんから英語コーチに任命され日夜家庭内で単語が飛び交ってます。
英語はみんながやるからという理由なら必要性は疑問ですがツールとして使うとメリットが色々。
日本のニュースを海外視点で見たり日本語ではでてこない情報を知れたり。
英語にも偏った報道はありますがいろんな視点で知ることが大切だと思います。
何が正しいかわからないからこそ自分で見て判断が必要ですね。

先月旅行で日本に行って、10個のミッドセンチュリーモダン風の中古生花花器を購入した。その後船便でオーストラリアに送った。やっと花器達はオーストラリアにたどり着いた！全て無事に割れず届いた。早速僕のミッドセンチュリー棚に飾った。生花全く分からない僕は現在生花花器10個を所有しています。どうやって使うでしょうか? 形好きだけでついついいっぱい買ってしまった。I went to Japan last month and bought 10 mid century modern brutalist ikebana vases. I sent them to my house in Australia by surface mail and they just arrived. I put all the ikebana vases in display in my teak bookshelf and now have no idea what to do with them. I don't understand anything about ikebana. I just bought them because I liked they way the vases look. Oops.

This is my mid century modern study. I just bought the American walnut cantilevered desk. The desk was made by Hooker in the 1960s and is part of the Mainline series of desks. They are rare in Australia. 1960年代の方持ち机を仕入れました。机は「Hooker」と言うメーカの「Mainlineシリーズの家具です」。オーストラリアではこの机は極レアです。

階段のぼって本来なら吹き抜けとかバルコニーになりそうな場所を、そのままオープンスペースで書斎のようなセカンドリビングのような空間にしてます。

そういえば以前リビングで使用していたモンテシートラグ。
使わないのも勿体無いので、こちらのスペースに敷いてみました。この手の色合いのラグは割とどこでも合う。

組み立ててもらうとシンデレラフィット！笑
まるでこの家具を置くために設計したかのよう(笑)
ということで、やっと書斎スペースが出来ました🥹
元々持っていた椅子色合いが合わないので、息子に譲って変えたいな🫠

［新築完成］書斎
ここは3階にあるオープンタイプの書斎。 まだ棚の上全部に書類を置くか悩んでいて中途半端ですが…笑
半分しか写っていませんが、1番上の棚にはメッシュWi-Fiのエージェントを置いています。
なぜオープンタイプの書斎にしたかというと、今回は2階にリビングを設けたので、ゲストが3階まで上がることが少ないという想定からこのような形にしました。
スタディスペースで勉強している子供達から声を掛けられることが多いと予想して、なるべく近くに書斎が作れるよう設計しました。
また、書斎の後ろがリビングの吹き抜けになっているので、子供たちがピアノの練習をしていると、書斎にいてもしっかり聞いてあげられます。
リビングでの兄妹喧嘩も、吹き抜けの上から覗くだけで状況把握が簡単です。これ大事。笑
少し距離はありますが、我が家は3階キッチンなので、料理しながら仕事したりすることも。
前の家はお手洗いが別の階だったので、今回は真横にあるのもありがたい。
オープンタイプの書斎は、雑音があまり気にならない人にはおすすめです。笑
